The Zhou Dynasty was at there highest peak when everything started to go downhill. The Zhou Kings wanted to try a new style of government so they assigned noblemen parts of the Zhou land. This type of governing worked well for over 700 years, but overtime the king became less powerful and the noblemen became more powerful. When they were defeated while fighting a rebellion the Zhou Dynasty had lost more power. They barely stayed in power for another 50 years, but they were finally overthrown by a man named Qin who was the ruler of the Qin Dynasty.

Interview

Reporter - Good morning King Wu, thank you for coming to this interview. shall we get started?

King Wu - Certainly, ask me any questions you have for me.

Reporter - When your father King Wen died his wish was to defeat the Shang Dynasty, how did you accomplish that wish?

King Wu - Well, I called the surrounding dukes at Meng Jin for a meeting and a huge amount of dukes came to the meeting. We noticed that the Shang Dynasty was in  a bad spot, so I attacked them with a surprise and many neighboring dukes had joined. When i heard that King Di Xin set his palace on fire and burned himself to death I knew that I was victorious. I was so proud of myself because I had made my dads dream come true.

Reporter - Wow that's amazing. How did your dynasty's inventions help you defeat the Shang Dynasty?     

King Wu - Our dynasty had invented many things, one of the most important inventions was the crossbow. The crossbow gave us an advantage because the Shang Dynasty had to use the bow arrows which took more time to reload and was harder to aim. The crossbow had a very quick reload and had amazing accuracy.

Reporter - Interesting, do you think these inventions helped the length time of your dynasty?

King Wu - Our inventions definitely helped our dynasty last longer. It wasn't just the inventions, I think our government made the Zhou dynasty last a lot longer because of our physical and mental skills. We started to massively expand our land and our power when we had moved to the Eastern Zhou dynasty. That was when our government was at there best. So our government was a huge factor of the Zhou dynasty lasting over 800 years.

Inventions

The crossbow was invented in China during the fourth Century BCE in the Zhou dynasty. This was an important invention of the time period because it gave the Zhou dynasty a huge advantage. There is a sharp metal arrow that is pulled back and released by a by a trigger, this gives it a lot more distance, faster reload, and amazing accuracy.

The crossbow had helped the Zhou dynasty a lot, it was the Zhou dynasty's best weapon for the military. Prior to the invention, people had used a bow and arrow which was very hard to be accurate with and takes a good amount of time to reload. The bow and arrow is an extremely hard weapon to use unless the user is an expert, that is why the invention of the crossbow was such a brilliant invention.

The crossbow has really changed peoples lives in many ways. For example this change from the bow and arrow to the crossbow was amazing, they made the crossbow a light and easy way to go hunting or to go to war, and it reloads a lot faster which gives you a longer time to focus and aim. These days there are many different styles of the crossbows. It is one of the finest hunting weapons today. 

Religion/Culture

Confucianism is basically a belief where the society was peaceful and people were respectful to their elders.Confucianism should change. The Zhou Dynasty were the first ones to start Confucianism.  A society without any rules and only peace is impossible. People should be punished for what they do wrong so they know not to do it again. This is why the Zhou Dynasty should change to Legalism. Legalism is where there are laws and if you brake those laws you get punished for what you do so you can understand to not do it again. For Confucianism the younger people have to respect the people older then them, so the older people ca boss around the younger people, but they wouldn't get punished because it is a peaceful society. Legalism should be in all society's because it makes the most sense, when your guilty for doing something bad you get in trouble for it.

The Zhou dynasty was in power for nearly 800 years which was the longest lasting dynasty in Chinese History. Western Zhou was a small country, King Wu built his capital near Changan in the banks of the Wei River. In the eleventh century BC, the Western Zhou dynasty moved to the Eastern Zhou dynasty and started to gain power and expand rapidly, being a threat to the Shang dynasty. The Eastern Zhou was ruled by emperor Ping. The Eastern Zhou dynasty had gotten into many wars and started to collapse. The Eastern Zhou dynasty ended up losing there land because there was too much land and they couldn't control the power.
